About Us

What is Bokashi?

Bokashi translates to “fermented organic matter” – which for us means reusing waste to develop something useful again out of something typically thrown out. This is the fundamental practice we will build Bokashi upon – do not create more waste, but instead use any waste for further development.

Our roots are inspired by Japanese movements such as Wabi Sabi (a concept centered around the acceptance of transience and imperfection) in conjunction with our local Indonesian ingredients and heritage – delivering a marriage focused around delivering the best quality and health-forward offerings possible with a unique combination of local and international flavours.

We will continue to cut our teeth on our own LYD Organic grown produce, but build on that with sustainably-supplied dry and fresh products available in bulk or retail – giving our customers the best possible all-in-one experience in store.

With the launching of our new cafe & teahouse, our love of Japanese x Indonesian will continue in our selection of fine teas, coffees and ingredients supplying our humble cafe and teahouse upstairs in our first Berawa location.

As we expand further we will always focus on what brought us here; quality and locality.

Grocery Store

Our main focus is to always supply our family with locally-grown + organic produce, goods and tools for a healthy lifestyle.

We build on our retail experience with organic coffee and unique tea varietals sourced locally and imported, in addition to a wealth of dry and fresh goods for experimenting at home.

Also featuring a specialised Bokashi Chef product line featuring oils, butters, pickles, sauces and much more. There is also a fresh cabinet section with gourmet open sandwiches, fresh salads, pies as well as out of this world sweet treats and more!

Café & Tea House

Our local and international tea ranges are available for you to experience in-house upstairs at the cafe & teahouse.

We also offer a changing selection of those teas in the store, along with coffee, spices and a variety of other dry goods.

Our custom-made ceramic range from Kevala (based in Sanur, Bali) introduces guests to a simple yet bespoke tea experience, leaving any pretentious beliefs around fine teas at the door.

We plan to evolve our selection throughout the year, making sure we constantly try to strike a balance between unique yet approachable in both price and flavour.
